Weekly Update 5/20/12

This Saturday’s group run will start at 6:30am.  We’ll meet in the parking lot on McCulloch & Beachcomber.  This is the parking lot across from where the island run starts, not the football field parking lot.  We’ll be running a new 7 mile loop from Gina.  Come out and run this fun new course with us.  All runners are welcome to join us.  We have all levels of runners & different distances available.  The amount of miles you run is entirely up to you.

If you compete in a race and want your results acknowledged in the weekly update, please let me know.            

Tuesday is track workout at Thunderbolt middle school.  Meet on the track at 6:30am.  If your schedule doesn’t allow you to make it to the track, then here’s the workout for this week.  Speed work is a great way to increase your speed & lower your time in a race.  All runners are welcomed to join us.  No one has to do all or any of the workouts noted below.  It may or may not be right for you at this time.  You’re welcome to do your own workout on the track if you like.

  • ·      1 mile+ warm-up
  • ·      6 strides (strides on the straights of the track, jog the turn to the next one)
  • ·      (2-3) 1 mile repeats done at half marathon pace.  Rest will be a 400m jog. 
  • ·      1 mile+ warm down.

Tuesday / Thursday evening adult swim meets at 5:30pm at the Aquatic Center. If you haven’t tried swimming, now is the time to do it. This is a great way to learn proper swimming techniques or just improve your swimming ability with an instructor. 

Wednesday morning island run at 6:30am.  Meet in the parking lot next to the football field.  Island loop is 3.67 miles.
