I quit checking in on a regular basis because there hadn't been any posts since about mid-February. Glad to see someone is interested in keep this forum going. Not sure exactly what we can do to get others to come here except maybe have Jim put a line in the weekly update about checking in on the forum and/or posting a weekly update on FB, the reason I'm here now.
Thanks Sue.

so i know that most of us follow hustlers on facebook. but there are times when i feel like saying more than a few sentences and there are times when i like hearing more than a few sentences. so here goes.
for those hustlers that are injured or hurting, i'm sorry. it's no fun to not be able to do an activity you enjoy a lot. no matter for the reason for the injury or inability to perform, keep your chin up. don't let this get you down. this is just a small hurdle in your running life. learn from this time – maybe you trained too hard or added mileage too fast or maybe it's just your body telling you to slow down or maybe none of the above. someone wrote on erika's facebook wall to heal now so that she can run long into the future. like, like, like. we all want to be doing this 10 or 20 or even 30 years from now. so take the rest, do the healing, and save your legs/feet/hips for the rest of your life.
i recently when through a phase of not being able to run well either. it wasn't a physical injury but my legs were feeling horribly heavy – picture a block wall block strapped to my thighs and that's how heavy my legs were feeling. it was bad. so one day i just thought about how i was feeling and what i had changed and it dawned on me that i probably wasn't eating enough carbs. like really not eating carbs. but i wasn't doing it intentionally. i had gotten onto a soup kick. but i wasn't doing crackers or breads or bagels. and those are foods i really enjoy. so i have been adding carbs, of some sort, at every meal – and i feel like a new person. the sad thing is, this non-thoughtful eating caused me to miss whiskey row this year – for the first time in a very long, long time. never again.
so as our lives ebb and flow, take the time to learn and grow and adapt and move on. these experiences add to our life journey.

Hello! Good job Sue on trying to keep the forum board alive! Maybe regular posts on Facebook to remind people about will help too!

so it's been so long since i was on here i almost forgot my password! so many things happening with our group – many people in training for June marathons, some getting out there are logging mileage for other upcoming events, some doing their own thing, and some in quite the zone and enjoying the running they are getting in. The hot weather hit us hard the last week or so and adjustments were made by everyone, trying to get workouts in and not melt in the sun. Today, was a nice surprise with quite the rain storm that went through. And now there is blue sky on the horizon.
The Havasu Half has come and gone and everyone did really, really well. The pacers were awesome and it was a great event – again. It was a chance for a lot of us to see friends we haven't seen in a while in a very happy venue. It was very life affirming.
Don't forget the Kingman races coming up that are always fun, too.
And welcome our new little hustler that joined our world this week.
See you out on the road!

i agree on both things. i would also like to get back into some sort of routine. on one of my recent walks, thoughts were rolling through my head about getting mileage back up and really not wanting to but needing to train for whiskey row – and for some reason, none of that sounds fun – at least for right now. the thought of chugging up cherry tree to get a long run in just sounds insane right now. and sorry i bugged out on coffee last saturday – i need to bring some warm/dry clothes to saturdays because by the time i'm done with the run, i'm soaked and then not moving makes me cold. i know i'm whining and making excuses – sorry :( hopefully in the very near future we will have time to chat more than we have.

must be in the air. The St. George Forum is also extremely quiet. Not sure why because this is an excellent time to be training and racing. I know I need to set some goals for myself and get out of this slump I'm in. I have to sit down and write down some plans rather than fly by the seat of my pants and do things at the last minute. My best bet is to get back to my old routine that worked fairly well for me and now that the mornings aren't totally miserably cold I really have no excuses. How about everyone else?
Sue we should meet and talk sometime rather that the hi how are you doing, see ya later thing.

the forum board has been awfully quiet lately. and come to think of it, i think that there are a few race reports missing – including 2 (or just 1?) from me.
and i would really like to hear about the chang experience from the hustlers that ran that event. including the post-race funk at least two of us seem to be in.
