LOL – no, Rhett, I wasn't pussying it at all! I too was impressed with Doone's time. When we ran our 11 mile training run a couple Saturday's ago she was right there at the turn-around and I knew then she had come a long way in her running. Looks like it's running in the family – no pun intended!

Oops, that was supposed to say "any time you push." How do you edit this thing?

Sumo, I hope all is well with Larry.
Karen, great race. Anytime you pusy into "puke pace" you know you gave it your all.
My family had a good time. Doone PR'd with 52:08. I'm so proud of her and how far she has come with her running in such a short time. Chase and Cade were mad because they couldn't find the turn around point in the mile run, but they got over it. I mixed my long run running to the race 5+ miles. I didn't give myself enough time to recover before racing, but was able to set a new 5K PR, but a dissapointing time considering the flat course. I then took off shortly after the race to finish my long run for the day, logging a total of 15.5 miles. It was fun to see everyone. I wish I wasn't in such a hurry, but I had to get in my run and to work before 11:00.

Wow! We saw the EMTs and such but didn't realize how serious it was (he looked like he'd fallen, and the EMTs were just being overly cautious… shows how observant we were running by!). I hope that all is okay, and continues to be such!

congrats karen – you and dana really ran a fast race – just what you wanted. good job. i'm not sure i can call my day a "race report". i also was going to try and pr this race – i was going to be happy with anything under 60 mins. and i think i was on track for that. i got slowed down on the backside of the island by that wind but knew that once i got out of that, i would still feel pretty good. i kept hearing the sirens near the island and wondered what was going on. and when i ran by the marina, i was surprised i hadn't seen larry yet come by on his bike. and then when i got to where the ambulance was and saw larry's bright green shirt, i was hoping he was there helping someone, not that he was the one who was needing the help. at first i was afraid he'd taken a header over the handle bars and that he'd be this huge bloody mess because i could see the bike on its side kind of near him – i never imagined it would be chest pain. i got there as the two ambulance people were asking him questions so i got the story right away – it scared me. and he was still having pain and wincing because of it. i can laugh at this now – one of the fire truck guys started asking me larry's personal info and i was still huffing and puffing from running and he asked me if i was ok or was i just excited/nervous because of what larry was going through. i'm even laughing while i write this – and i told him no, i was fine, it was just that i was running that race!! i guess maybe i didn't quite look the part of a runner – my goodness. i love all you firefighters!!!! anyway, they carted larry off after they looked at his ekg. i walked his bike to our truck. thank you to wes for taking larry's bike apart to get in the back – thank you. and thank you to gina, running by asking if larry was ok and richard for stopping. and craig too while i was taking the bike to the truck. somehow in all that i remembered to stop my garmin when i got to larry – i was at 2.60 miles at 23:22 – so i was pushing. but nothing is more important than those we love and there will always be more races. so i'll just have to pr the havasu half instead!

Let's hear some race reports – Sue, your's will definitely be the most interesting now that we know Larry is home safe and sound. What did you think as you were running up towards him? Was the ambulance already there? Dana and I came up on the group and saw Larry sitting on the ground. I thought that was strange that he wasn't cheering us on as happy Larry always does. Dana raised his hands for applause from the crowd but we got ignored. As we ran by I said to Dana, "I think Larry's down." Then we heard sirens coming but we were already past. When I didn't see Sue after turning around I knew something was up. SO glad he's ok. As for my race, I had a goal of an 8:15 pace which made it nice not trying to race anyone but myself. Dana offered to pace me so I immediately took him up on it. We started out and I felt great - 8:06 first mile, 8:08 the second. I was chatting a little with Dana and he told me to stop so I could conserve my energy which I'm so glad he did cuz by mile 4 I started to struggle – still kept the pace, it was just much harder. The last half mile through the park I drafted off Dana which really helped. We ran to the finish and I hit stop right at the line, looked at my watched and tried to yell that we made it under 50 but I couldn't talk! I went over to the empty lot and just about threw up but was able to contain it. At least I know I pushed myself! Ended up finishing in 49:58 which is an 8:07 pace. Thanks to Dana I not only made my goal of and 10k PR, I crushed it!

I guess I can google it. If I can figure out what the name of the race is.

Oh… and the prices went "up" $5 per month, with the cheapest ending January. The February prices are $10 for kids' 1 mile, $30 for 5k, $40 for 10k… In fact, I think the only difference in the original online form that was posted and the one I actually turned in was the location (and it was printed on green paper ). (And it sounds like there's a race for everyone in Rhett's family )
I know the Rotary folks would love to have a lot of folks participate :-)

Hi… I'm a noob, but I've registered for the St. Paddy's Day race (dropped off at Crystal's office last month). The race registration form (given to me by a colleague who's a member of the Sunrise Rotary and found out I've started running) says the race is at Grand Island Park rather than Sara Park, and has a 10K, 5K, and 1 mile fun run for kids. I think the times are still the same (races start at 9:00 am). I'm sure Crystal will pass on the updated information, but thought I'd mention what I know . (Maybe because I'm excited to actually be running a 10K… both Brian (DH) and I will be running )

Sunrise Rotary is putting this on. I just contacted Crystal Alger to foward the registration form to me so I can make it available to download on the website. I believe it's a 5k & 10k out at SARA Park which would be perfect training for the Havasu Half! Not sure of the time. Once I get more info I'll let you know!

I see the St. Patricks Day race scheduled on the calander. Does anyone know anything about it? Distance, time, where to get registration forms, when early registration is due, etc.
