I like it!  If I were going to ride with you that's what I'd want to do.  But I'll be off trottin' thru "the desert on my horse with no name…." actually, her name is Starbuck! ;)

Have fun Sunday!  Ride like the wind Cool

Something to think about for this coming Sunday.  How about going out to Cattail Cove turnoff.  It would be a total of about 16 miles from the top of Sara Park then another 4.25 out and back thru the park would be right over 20 miles.  We can see who shows up and what they want to do.  Just another bright idea from me.  NOT! Surprised

If I get up early enough I'm going to ride from the house, the only problem with doing it is the long ride up S. McCulloch on the way back home.  I would be up to the ride thru Sara Park after the scenic view.  Last week I did it while waiting for you gals to show.

I think the 3 of us are hooked. Mel and Marla kicked my butt this morning. Mel is an amazing cyclist; we couldn't keep up with him. We are going to do it again next Sunday at 6:00; we will probably make it a regular thing if anyone would like to join us :)

As I was leaving the run/swim group Saturday I asked if anyone wanted to ride and got a bunch of no answers.   I'm in for it.

Mel,

I agree whole-heartedly about the nap excuse. I use it every chance I get.

Yes 5:30 is early but the door to HELL isn't quite as HOT.

I have said for years that living is Havasu in the summer is the training grounds for HELL.  I guess you must agree with that. LOL.

The good thing about getting up early and running, biking and/or swimming is your excuse for taking a nap becomes valid.

Lake Havasu City, AZ

While there are many things I appreciate about living in Lake Havasu City there two things that rank pretty high on my dislike list…  One, is that every summer we are reminded that somehow, in someway we are in close proximity to hell.  I've searched the desert landscape and have not found it's door – yet the seering 120 degree temperature is evidence enough of our near neighbor and I don't like it!  The second thing I really dislike is waking up at 5:30am…  If I wanted to wake up at 5:30am and exercise, I'd join the Army where they at least pay me for my effort…

Okay, okay…  Let me think about it…  Ask me again on Saturday.  At the present moment 5:30am on a Sunday just seems so early…

Decided to fix my flat yesterday and found it very interesting.  The leak is in the valve stem so it is not patchable.  I figured I'd check my spare just to see if it was okay and it had two leaks in it.  Needless to say, both tubes are in the trash and I'll be off to buy two new ones.  Won't have an excuse for next Sunday.  Perhaps Larry will join in and how about Richard, he has a real hot looking bike and I've seen him ride it?

The wind on the way out to the lookout was a little challenging but on the way back it was great!!! We had a great time. Not a lot of cars and there were other cyclists out as well. Even in the wind we managed to maintain a 15.7 mph for 11.18 miles. I would be willing to lead a group every Sunday at 5:30 but I cannot start until August (I will be out of town next weekend) unless Marla or Mel would like to lead. Marla is a great cyclist (as you would expect) and passed me on the way back.

All in all a great ride…….we missed Mel!

It wasn't really a fall, it was more of a stumble with a two point landing.  Scrapes on my right hand and a small one below my left knee.  Funny, with all the up and donw hills on that course, it happend on the flat.  Nothing seriious.  Surprised it didn't happen sooner since I cannot walk and chew gum at the same time.

Mel, I didn't know you tripped and fell during the run yesterday!  Sorry to hear that.  I thought of the bike ride this morning at 5am when I let Howdy out and saw how windy it was.  Wind is definiately your friend on a horse back ride (keeps us cooler) but not on a bike ride!  Gina, Marla, let us know how it went!

I didn't make it and was really disappointed.  I had a three strike workout day yesterday, strike one, panic attack in the water EmbarassedEmbarassed, strike two tripped and fell running EmbarassedEmbarassedEmbarassedand strike three when I went out last night to get my bike ready I had a flat tire, no patches and didn't want to trust an older spare (and ride with none) in the heat Cry YellYell.  So I ran 6 this morning at the late hour of 7:45. Going down S McC was okay because of the south wind.  The bike ride going south was probably work going into the headwind but coming back was probably made for a really nice ride.

I do plan on being there next week.  No strikeouts. SmileSmileSmile  I hate days like that.
