Some of you already have met and ran with or behind Jimmy before. Well he's at it again. Here is the latest.
He is now in the middle of cross-country. I think I need to take some lessons from him on how to get faster. Wonder if I could get him to run St. George Marathon or the Ragnar Relay for me.
A couple weeks ago he ran a 2 miler in Big Bear..it's at altitude, on a uphill rough trail. I don't remember his exact time (darn old age) but I think it was 13:13 and he tied the course record and beat the second place guy by over a minute.
Last week he ran a course that was a little over 2 miles in 14:09 with 58 runners and was 1st overall. Temp was 103ยบ,
Yesterday he ran a 3 mile road race, came in third overall, 1st in his AG (He turned 13 on Aug 22). His time was 17:17. First place was 26 years old, beat Jimmy by 7 seconds, second places was 17, beat him by 3 seconds.
My daughter also ran the 3 miler yesterday without any good training and ran 25:06, 2nd in her ag.
They make me proud.

CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!
I'm looking at jogging strollers right now. Anxious to take my new grandbaby (due Feb 2010) for a run!!!!!!!!!! Also looking to do a 3 generation run in the next decade.
Happy for you, Grandpa!!!!!!!!Posted 11 months ago # -
Those are just amazing times for a kid his age, or any age for that matter. If he is running like that now, and loves the sport, he will be amazing when he gets a little older.

Dana, he ran with the group...well with Jeff on Labor Day at Sara Park. Ran those hills like they were flat. The best thing he is so non-chalant about what he does. The good side he is not being pushed into this and he loves every aspect of it which is definitely a positive. He is everyones sweetheart. I'm looking forward to the 2016 Olympics :-)

My goodness Mel - imagine if you would have taken up running in your early years! You would have set world records! Obviously it's in the genes. Congratulations and we too look forward to seeing him in the 2016 Olympics!

Mel, It was great meeting your infamous grandson and daughter. They are amazing. Have you talked them into coming back for the Turkey Trot?

Geesh, he just keeps getting faster. Today Jimmy came in first at the High Desert Middle School X/C finals....first overall. Course was 2 miles. His time 11:24 and now he holds the course record.
