WHY ON EARTH am i thinking of doing a full marathon again?
    Delusions of grandeur, for sure.
A half is what I'm trained for. I walk/jogged a slow 2 1/2 hour half yesterday and finished with lotsa fuel left in the tank.
I'm always glad when the half is over and so thankful I've not got that much more to complete.

Surely I'll wake up tomorrow and have regained my senses.

    Reasons I'm considering it:
    1. I had such a terrible experience with this course in 2005, after training for 10 full months. I was ready for 20 miles (which I'm NOT now)
but the thing is, I'm so much more educated about the running/race experience than I was then. ( a little knowledge IS a dangerous thing or I wouldn't be
thinking about this crazy stuff!) But I WANT a rematch!
    2. When my grandson Silas arrives, my life WILL change drastically.
    3. I'm HEALTHY--and who knows what the future holds???

    Reasons not to:
    1. risk of injury--but that's there everyday
    2. I'm not trained, but I DO think I have great stamina and could do much more than I DO
    3. It's a CRAZY idea
    4. I've done one, and have nothing to prove
    5. People DIE

My goal would be to 1.not die 2. finish 3. hope for under 6 hours, in that order
Have YOU ever done anything this crazy???????

Yep, 53 times. Every time I run a marathon I ask my self why am I doing this and it's going to be the last time. Then I think, it wasn't that bad and I start the long cycle all over again. I like your goals, but I never even think about #1 and anymore I just hope for under 5:30...would like to get back to under 5:00 or even better 4:30.
What race are you considering and when?

Sunshine, you wouldn't be a runner if you didn't always want to get better and do more. That is just how we roll. How much time do you have to get ready for this marathon. I'm sure with a couple long runs between now and then, and the running base you currently have, you at least won't die, will most likely finish, and will probably do it all under 6 hours. Good luck.

Well, I since I've never done a marathon, I can't really relate. There was a very tough 12k course I used to race every year, and every year while racing it I'd say the same thing, "I'm never doing this again" - yet when it came time to sign up, I was right there doing it again. Like Rhett said, if you can get a long run or two in and with your running base, you'll do just fine! Good luck and let us know what you decide!

Midsouth Marathon and a Half in Wynne, Arkansas is the scene.
    Definitely want a rematch.
But the race is NEXT weekend, laughing, not really time for a couple of long runs, since last weekend I did a half.
One of my running buddies (logged over 300 miles last month) asked me to PLEASE be smart and do the marathon WHEN I'M PREPARED.
I can't wait to have a grandson in a couple of months, but it does remind me the clock is ticking, ticking, ticking.
53 MARATHONS!!!!!!!!!!! DANG KODI!!!!!!!!!! You are my hero!!!!!!!!!!!
Happy Halloween to all of you Havasuhustlers!!!!!!!
